Rev. William E. Green

Pastor Will is an Arkansan in diaspora, doting cat dad, and proud queer United Methodist. Pastor Will has over 15 years of experience in pastoral ministry. He first experienced a call to ministry in elementary school and has served in part-time and full-time appointments, including in rural Arkansas, Chicago, Illinois, Arlington Heights, Illinois, and most recently at Foundry United Methodist Church in Washington, D.C. He is deeply committed to collaborative, lay-driven ministry that empowers all people to use their God-given gifts to create anti-racist, radically inclusive, and heart-transforming Christian community.

Pastor Will serves as our primary teacher and worship leader, Chief of Staff, and steward–in partnership with the lay leaders–of Silver Spring United Methodist Church's congregational mission and vision. He also serves in a variety of roles beyond the parish, including co-facilitating Resist Harm, an diverse group of United Methodists committed to resisting harm to LGBTQIA+ persons and their allies by our denomination, and regular contributor to Pulpit Fiction, a lectionary-based podcast for preachers, teachers and Bible geeks.

In his spare time, you’ll often find him hosting dinners for friends and loved ones, gardening, kayaking on the nearest waterway, or prowling local thrift stores for his next furniture re-finishing project.
