Carmen Castro-Conroy

Carmen Castro-Conroy is a practicing Catholic and an active member at Saint Rose of Lima Parish in Gaithersburg. Born and raised in Peru, Carmen received all her education from Catholic institutions including the Sacred Heart University for Women. In 1990, she moved to Maryland and later she graduated with a Master's degree in General Administration from UMUC. She is a 2021 graduate of Georgetown University’s Nonprofit Management Executive Certificate Program. Carmen has worked for nonprofits since 1996 when she joined the Upper Montgomery Assistance Network. In 2009 she joined Housing Initiative Partnership (HIP) as a Certified Housing Counselor, she now manages the Montgomery County office of HIP.  

At Saint Rose of Lima, Carmen has been involved in Religious Education and currently she serves as a member of the Hispanic Committee, Pax Christi, the Social Justice and Green Teams. She is also lead the celebration of the Feast of Saint Rose in the month of August and represents Saint Rose at Action in Montgomery (AIM) and the Justice and Advocacy Group.  

Carmen advocates for social justice, affordable housing and volunteers her time for different causes.
